The earth rotates on its axis as it revolutions around the sun. Day and night is caused by the Earth's rotation on its axis. The tilt affects day and night because the tilt affects the longness of day and night. In the winter the days are shorter and the nights are longer because of the tilt of the earth. In the summer the the days are longer and the nights are shorter because of the tilt of the earth. The tilt of the Earth also affects the seasons of the Earth as well. During the fall and spring equinox we have equal day and equal night because of the tilt.
